Linda Hillier was born and raised in Ottawa, Ontario. She fell in love with watercolour and drawing as a child and never stopped. After receiving her Bachelor of Art Education from Queens University in Kingston, she set out to see the world. She travelled to far flung places working as a flight attendant in the north, a bush cook, a courier, a house builder: meanwhile taking courses and pursuing her artistic goals. A Bachelor of Education in 1985 was followed by teaching Visual Arts at secondary school and raising a family. When not on the road, she lives in Carleton Place, Ontario with her partner and a parrot.
Her artwork explores the relationship between surface, inner structure and symbolism through a variety of mediums, including watercolour and acrylic, calligraphy, textile arts, writing.
